Feminist Mantra Monday 2: I'm With Her
This is a big week, ladies. A big one. It's the week we get to elect the first female president of the USA (for those of us with the privilege of voting rights, all my love to everyone who stands as an ally in this election season as well). In doing that, it's also the week we get to say no to sexism, racism, and all the other -isms that have popped up in this particularly hate-filled election cycle.
I have not always been a Hillary supporter; in fact, I've been a vocal critic of her politics in the past. But I'm With Her is a mantra I will always get behind and embrace. Womyn will only get ahead in this patriarchal, white supremacist world, if we stand with each other, lifting each other up, up, and up. I'm With Her is feminism at its most basic: empowerment and community.
So this week, if you can vote, make sure you get out there and cast your ballot in support of freedom, love, and womyn everywhere. Then take some time to check in with the other ladies in your life and make sure they're doing all right after the trauma that he-who-shall-not-be-named has inflicted on us all fall. Maybe even organize a little election viewing party for celebration/support on Tuesday night.
And remember, if I'm With Her then I'm with you too, babes. xoxo
Feminist Mantra Monday is a weekly mantra series crafted to help womyn embrace feminisms and themselves as feminists through self-exploration and community-creation.
